Saw Englehardt in person at Arcadia. She isn't one of those tiny freshman ... she is tall and very athletic looking. I don't know if she has great speed, but her strength appears to be excellent.
Yep they both are. I believe Sadie said she was planning on racing the 1600m in the postseason with either the 800m or 3200m. Not sure if a decision has been made yet.
If Sadie decides to run the 800, who else in California is close to her in the 800?
I think Sadie will run one more hard 800m prior to the state meet to see if she can better her 2:05 time. One certainty is that Frias and Sadie will both run the 1600m at the State meet. They will blast it out of the park especially since this is Dalia's senior year. Who knows, they might bring the 1600m time to 4:31. Regardless of how tired the are, there is a bit of rest till the 800m and the 3200m. Sadie can do the 800m and have no challengers and Dalia can do the 3200m with no challengers.

That sounds like what will most likely happen at the CA state meet. But what I would really like to see is Frias and Engelhardt going at it in a 3200.

That what some people don't understand about Engelhardt. They say things like "well, when she hits puberty her body will change and she might not be fast anymore."
Engelhardt hit puberty a few years ago. I met her at a cross country meet in fall 2021 and she was already a big gal. She is well past the whole puberty problem that a lot of girls have their sophomore or junior year.
It will be exciting to see what Engelhardt can do in her next 3 years in high school. Roisin Willis is in her senior year and she is running faster in the 800 than any of the college women. I think that Engelhardt will be the same, meaning that Engelhardt will probably be running faster in the mile as a senior than any of the college women.
Freshman at Ventura high ran 4:59/4:51 negative split.
impressive performance and i get she doesn't have a lot of competition to race against at every meet, but these solo time-trials chasing records feels off to me.
i think this was the last weekend she could have taken off from racing before the 5 weekend-in-a-row push that will be needed for league finals through the state meet.
1600/800/3200 at the CA state meet should be incredible this year.

"no challengers." wut?
Sadie is the 800m state leader by 1.20 seconds.
Dalia's 3200m pb is a little slower than Sadie's now.
How do you suppose neither would have any challengers at the state meet?

He is guessing that Sadie will ONLY run the 800 and 1600 at the state meet, so Dalia won't have any serious challengers in the 3200.
As far as the 800 goes, I don't think that Cate Peters has a shot against Sadie.

I think that Sadie is looking at it from the opposite view point. She thinks that this is the last chance until the state meet to get a fast time.
Starting next week she will take it easy in her races until the state finals. Meaning she will train through the next few weeks and get ready to run really fast the end of May at the state finals.
Sadie vs Dalia in the 1600 in the state finals is going to be epic!
Guys, she’s 3 seconds away from breaking Tuohy’s 3200 record.
RANKTIMEATHLETE/TEAMGRADE1 9:47.88 KATELYN TUOHY NY North Rockland 2020 2 9:48.25 NATALIE COOK TX Flower Mound 2022 3 9:48.59 KIM MORTENSEN CA Thousand Oaks (SS) 1996 4 9:49.83 JENNA HUTCHINS TN Unattached - TN 2022 5 9:50.69 SADIE ENGELHARDT CA Ventura (SS)
Tuohy's 9:47.88 might not be the record by the time Sadie Engelhardt next runs a 2 mile.
In the next 2 weeks Natalie Cook, Angelina Perez, Ellie Shea, and Dalia Frias are running 2 mile races, and I wouldn't be surprised to see one of them to break the 2 mile record.
Not hating. Maybe raising the question why she didn’t take any opportunity to get a fast 2 mile in over the four years. I know she focused more on middle distance.
Interesting that she has now graduated from high school, but has never beat this time from freshman year.
Probably bc she focuses on the mile. She’s dropped 8 seconds in the mile since this thread was started. Pretty significant achievement considering she was already running 4:35 back then.
