Ryan Crouser would make the shot put a true spectator sport. Heads up in the front row!
A lighter weight shot for the men would open up the field and turn the event into one about strength + technique, rather than brute strength as the event that exists now.
The best male putter with a lighter shot would not necessarily be Crouser. In HS Crouser couldn't throw within 4 feet of Micheal Carter's record throw of 81 feet. Never mind that Crouser was taller and heavier and stronger than Carter. Carter couldn't bench 300 lbs.
Carter's throwing method was all about technique. Crouser, as he is now, would not necessarily be #1 with a lower weight shot. But a slimmed down Crouser with a modified technique has a better chance at being #1 with a lighter weight shot.
If women tennis players get equal pay, they should also play best of five.
Yes, that one is silly. There is zero reason for woman to only play best of 3. Problem is that the tournaments would now get even longer. But there is really zero reason.
Women’s points tend to be longer so their matches could really get dragged on. Also, there has historically been less depth in women’s tennis so there would be a lot of early round matches that will be blowouts regardless of whether it’s a three or five set match and it just leads to more time on court when the result wouldn’t be impacted. There wouldn’t be nearly as many comebacks from a set or two down as there is in men’s tennis. And the scheduling would be a nightmare, there would be a lot more matches that don’t get off on time/need to be rescheduled to the next day.

The discus is lighter and maybe requires more technique so there should be an event more strength based.
Then make the hammer a behemoth-sized Thor event. There is one men's throwing event that goes less than 100 feet, and three that go well over 200 feet.
The current hammer used in the hammer throw is nothing more than a 16-pound shot with a cable. Make it 20-25 kg weight and make it look like an actual hammer, like Thor's. See how far can a big person can throw something with two arms rather than one arm which is how all the throwing events are done.
There was a heavy weight throw competition in the Olympics in the early days. Nowadays only the Highland games or world's strongest man competitions have these pure strength events.

Women are not children. Why are men forcing women to throw a shot put that his HALF the size and weight of the shot put the men throw?
This is insulting and humiliating for these women. It's time for this to stop and STOP NOW! This insult has gone on long enough, it's not the 1950's any more!
Rise up and FIGHT!
This is a much, much smaller issue (if an issue at all) than the one regarding trans-gender competitors allowed to compete against biologic women. That is a question of unfair competition within the same events.
As long as the playing field is equal for all competitors, the weight of the shot or the height of the hurdles is really a non-issue unless the competitors themselves have a problem with it. That being said, if female competitors generally prefer these events to be modified, there should be a pathway to allow this. As long as they are fine with things staying as is, no one is "forcing" this on them so why change it?
Why doesn't the sport go back to the more Earth friendly putting the stone rather than the current mock cannon ball with vestiges of militarism and colonialism?

Yes, and the javelin keeps getting modified because it gets thrown too far. And the hammer throw is conducted outside the stadium because it gets thrown too far and is too dangerous for a crowded stadium to witness.
The first Olympics the marathon was 40 km. In 1908 the Queen of England forced it to be 42.195 km (the course was measured backwards from the decreed end point, being the Queen's royal box). It wasn't until 1921 that 42.195 km was voted on to be the "official" distance, evidently to honor the Queen. . . . I have never understood the "logic" of 42.195 km. It should have been standardized as 40 km.
Geeky college students Gilbert (Anthony Edwards) and Lewis (Robert Carradine) are evicted from their dormitory when the Alpha Betas -- who recently burned do...
Yes because they would then have to train harder and gain more endurance plus wouldn’t then have the spare time/energy to compete in the doubles/ mixed doubles as well in Grand Slams and earn even more money and titles.
I wouldn't go to equal weights, but as a high school coach I have often wondered why the hurdles go up and throwing implements get heavier for men and not for women.
