sub 16:10 imo. They all are in sub 4:03 shape rn, and they are treating this as the most important race of the indoor season. They have taken almost a month before this race and a month after of no racing, and in interviews they have all stated that this is of big importance to them, so I think this will be a really all out attempt. Even though individual mile splits won't be counted I can't help but think they're all going to try to go for a pr here, even Colin and Aaron, who have the 800 the next day.
This season they've run 3:58/8:33, 7:57, 8:39, and 4:05/8:01. Two weeks before his 3:58, Colin ran a 4:05. Aaron is supposed to have the most speed, so he may be ready for a sub-4. Lex and Leo have beaten him all year, so they may be ready for it too. If not, they're right on the edge.
As much as I'd love to see it, I don't think we're seeing a sub 16:10. They're all in monster shape right now, but it's a massive task to expect 4:02s from everyone. For sub 16:10, 3 juniors and a senior would need to run 60-61 per lap with only themselves as pacers, while also lapping people the entire way, and none of them can mess up. I give it a 2% chance of happening, max.
I'm rooting for them to break 16 though. That would undoubtedly be the greatest HS record ever. 15:58.
Im guessing they can give this a shot at Penn if they run it. NY next weekend sounds more like a fun trip and get a record at the same time.
Brosnan has said on social media he wants them to run the Penn Relays collegiate 4 x Mile but its not up to him. I think California has some weird competition rules and Penn Relays might not allow either.
But if they do end up running I agree it would incredible. The collegiate record would no doubt fall (16:03) in my opinion, since the college kids will be motivated to not lose to some high schoolers.

They can run at Penn. They’ll just have to run unattached. They can’t represent the school against collegians or pro’s.
So it up to Penn to allow them in the collegiate 4 x a mile. Not a California rule.
Definitely feasible they average 4:05 even at indoor Nationals when they inevitably lap other runners. These guys race with guts, either way the national record is GONE
1) 16:10, if they were in a race with college teams. The competition would push them along to not just a national record but a truly historic time. 2) Closer to 16:30 if they were racing high school teams. They'd be all alone the entire race (with the possible exception of the first leg if a Gavin Sherry/Zane Bergen-type ran the first leg for his relay).
As great as they are, it's hard to run 4-minute miles all by your lonesome. I think you'd lose a second a lap having no competition.
Keep in mind the collegiate 4xmile is usually much, much slower than 16:10. For example in the last Penn Relays in 2019 the winning time was only 16:39.
I'd expect the race to be faster with the introduction of super shoes but no guarantee that it would be near the 16:10 range.

I could see a bunch of college kids pushing the race as opposed to being beat by High Schoolers
Newbury Park bros are the most overrated runners in history, never running sub 4:10 in the mile again. The previous "success" was entirely doping and I wouldn't be surprised if some of the results were faked for publicity. They'll never break 17 min in 4xmile, no way.

low tier bait post. If you really want to get a reaction bring up "cheatshoes" or Runninglane (4947m course). Those fire LRC users up pretty well
They seem pretty ready to shatter the record based on their latest workout video. I'd say optimally sub-16:15, maybe sub-16:10 if they don't have to do a lot of lapping. If they do end up running Penn, I could definitely see a sub 16 in perfect conditions.
Newberry Park's high school boys team just completed the most dominant cross country season of all time. California is typically one of the most competitive states when it comes to prep distance running, and Newberry Park's t...

I think the collegiate record is only 16:03 by Oregon when Centro Wheating and Rupp were on the team. While I think that could be lowered with more people running sub 4 these days just some perspective for those saying sub 16
Seb Coe in the day did 8 x 800 in 1:52. These guys did 1 800 in 1:59 .... lame.
Yeah, & Seb Coe ran 1:41 & change for the 800. What's your point? Aaron Sahlman led every rep in the workout. I'll be surprised if he doesn't break four sometime this season.
16:12 next year (They will have three sub-4 guys and will just need one more sub-4:10 guy to round out the squad)
Yup, next year there will be 3 guys to choose from to replace Sahlman.
Doshi, Martinez, and Cantu.
Porter seems to be approaching that level too.
Their B team will be very good too. They will have Porter, and 2 of the 3 guys that don’t make their A Team (Doshi, Martinez, Cantu). Takes 1 more after that.

Next year Newbury Park can run:
4:02
4:02
4:08
4:15
So that's 16:27 which will get them the national record.
