When you consider the fact that people achieve much more with way less (african teens) your take on the Newbury Park boys makes no sense.
The Newbury Park boys pale in comparison to their tan counterparts from East Africa.
I'm going to have to join the minority who agrees with this. They don't exist at all when compared to the best in the world. There is no ranking they make it on. Don't know if this fact - yes, it is fact - changes anyone's mind about anything. Their fans are still their fans. They (or coaches, parents, or whoever) will still get on a thread like this and dislike any comments not worshipping them. I'm not saying all of you must suddenly stop being fans. I AM saying that their performances are laughable not just compared to superstars like Gebrihwet or Wanjiru at similar ages, but even when compared to countless East Africans we can't name.

When you say "their performances are laughable" it sounds like you're mocking their attempts to be the best they can be. Nobody is disputing that the East Africans rule distance running, from youth to senior. I guess that also means that the U.S. athletes should give up on trying anything where we're not the best.

You're absolutely correct. This poster keeps trying to connect to different people by mocking the very people they enjoy following, then trying convince them he's right. He brings nothing new to the table and doesn't collaborate with any posters here. He's the one whose "laughable".
It’s just straight up unfair to compare these runners to all other high schoolers in the country. They have incredible coaching, super shoes, great talent, and are clearly superior to any others in high school from the last few years. Their times are way too impossible to fathom and should be considered illegitimate.
