NO sh*t the seawall has already been there---sounds like???? Some of you aren't too sharp.
It's another loophole being used by Obama like he did with his property in Chicago (do your own research). It's bad for the coast line but perfectly legal if you read the article and know anything about Hawaii. I live there 1/2 the year. Regardless of it being legal or not, locals don't like the rule and there should be no loophole which translates to greasing someone's palms. He also wasn't wearing a mask. Does that not piss off "maskers"?
As for bjuljun, I don't think anyone cares if you register and block Jamin and Unkle. Ever hear of not clicking on a thread started by someone who you don't care for? Is it that hard? Do you really think you are that important? Are you going to hold a LR press meeting or make your own post about blocking another poster?

lots of the trolls spam post about their pet topics (see: you and masks) in unrelated threads. Solely to try and derail good discussion. Thus blocking the few mega-trolls really improves QoL on these forums. If we get the word out that blocking improves things... it should keep the good contributors from going away. Win, Win!
Hawaii Bro- You are wasting your time. Most racists don't have a sense of reason. They don't think logically and lacks a sense of empathy, sympathy and compassion. Too much hate in them to think/see otherwise. Small minded... brains stuck in a tiny box!

Read the title of the thread.

This is how neoliberalism has been able to rot the core of the Democratic party in a microcosm. Obama was a real progressive when he was working as a community organizer. He was given a path to political power thanks to people like Marty Nesbitt (the extremely rich guy who bought the property in HI and is obviously letting Obama have it in exchange for being on the board of Obama's foundation). The Obamas (Michelle is actually rumored to be to the left of Obama on many issues) were captured by the likes of Nesbitt and the wealthy Chicagoans who surrounded Rahm Emmanuel and other machine players. They were not just political funders, but became friends and took the Obamas in to their social circles (Michelle probably got her political gigs in Chicago city government and subsequent corporate gigs through this network). Obama then turns into a moderate, eschewing his progressive days as the folly of his youth. Obama goes all in with big bank bailouts and screws all the people who got caught up on the borrower side of the 2008 market crash. Obama blows off promises to confront global warming and lets fracing flourish across the US (and bragged about it). And now, the Obamas are reaping the rewards of being the servants of the neoliberal order. They are independently wealthy, building dream homes in HI and Martha's Vineyard and hobnobbing with celebrities. Kirsten Sinema followed the exact same trajectory as have many other Dems who trace their roots back to progressive activism but are now corporate tools (Reps. Ryan, Clyburn, etc.).
I must commend your honesty here. Most Liberals refuse to acknowledge any of the above facts.
Hmm how does this compare with that time Trump pulled us out of the Paris Climate Accords?

Hmm how does this compare with that time the Clintons were tied to 87 people who died mysteriously and had ties to them? Look up Boys on the Tracks
If Trump were accused of being connected to just 1 person you’d post it every day as gospel
Lying liberal hypocrite
I think the only thing of note in this story is that it bears explaining how a middle-class American becomes an elected politician and is now worth $100 million dollars owning mansions in the ritziest places in America. I do not resent wealthy people who go into public service, but people like Obama who parlay their elected office and political influence into massive wealth or use the influence to grow family wealth I find quite disgusting.
I could care less about the stupid wall although pictures of Obama maskless standing right next to and talking to all the workers wearing masks summed up the whole covid experience for me.

John will deflect anything you ask about the Clintons, because he likes them and she lost. Yet he'll bring up Trump every chance he gets and won't stay in 2022....Trump owns his brain.
Popular vote? LOL, that's why they have the Electoral Vote, so one OVERLY lop sided state like California can't decide an entire election. Wouldn't matter which side has the OVERLY lop sided state, that many differences in votes on a state that big can't decide the election...she got all 55 electoral votes from one state, the most...and still lost:):):):)
Why bring up the Electoral Vote? Well, why bring up the Paris Climate Accords? See what I did there Johnny?
Where did this guy get all this money?
He didn't have it when he was elected president.
Alex Jones will be doing a 4-hour broadcast on this breaking news story

Actually no, I don’t think you’re intelligent or lucid enough to make a coherent argument. Obviously, pulling out of the Paris Climate Accords has environmental ramifications, which is relevant to the subject of this thread.
I will not comment again, if you’d rather not waste your time trolling.
Daily Mail is the UK version of National Enquirer.

Should states decide elections or should people decide elections?
Democrats also bashed the National Enquirer when it came out with a "conspiracy theory" about Bill Clinton and a White House intern
how can people take anybody on the left seriously. Everything they stand for is a facade. it's just pathetic.
The fallacy of the value of the border wall was exposed in Germany, because the wall did not stop people from leaking away to other Eastern European countries and then departing, and no one wanted to be in a country with a wall keeping people in. Walls between countries will have many negative effects and few positive ones in modern times, harming animals, property owners, and the environment, while costing billions of dollars and making us into that kind of country. They just aren't that effective when people can put a ladder next to them, cut through, dig under, swim or paddle around them in the water sections, and as in most just fly to the country and overstay the visa. They lead to massive black market human trafficking, and support drug trafficking as well. Putting a fence around your property works pretty well because no one has to go to that particular place. There are plenty of easier targets. Criminals are not as highly motivated to target particular places as immigrants are to get to a certain country. For Obama, there are so many right wing cranks wanting to take him out that he needs protection anyway. He did sell out to some significant degree, but at the same time, he is not just more of the same because he raised taxes back to the Clinton era for the wealthy; he got the country moving again with his stimulus package (though too small and unnoticeable to have a long term positive effect); and he did many other progressive things, the Affordable Care Act, protection of ocean species and lands, saving the auto industry, Dreamers, etc.

Walls do work to protect private property. If you have trouble seeing the difference between hundreds of miles of border wall that cost billions vs a small private property, you might be a Fox news viewer.
China used some sort of a wall to keep Mongols from invading back in the day. It worked pretty well and was really long. You should check it out

This is the real point here and unsurprisingly no one (on either side) is actually making this point until now. Personally, I don't care that he's got a ton of money and is using it to live luxuriously and whatever environmental concerns there are are probably overblown. But these are the types of things Obama pretended to be against. I say good for him living good off of his hard work but I just hope he knows and accepts that he is not acting in a way that aligns with the policies he preached while in office.
