Man this smells like there is some major rift within the coconino cowboys. Jim has been distancing himself big time lately. I wonder what happened.
They were fun as heck to follow back in the day. Until something happened. Anyone know what?
No break up at all. We still run together multiple times per week. Big Jim is the man!
But this was an awesome opportunity for Big Jim and as somebody correctly pointed out, Hoka are taking care of this.
Don't be shocked when the humble pizza shop owner from Flagstaff, Arizona, smashes another course record in the mountains of France this summer.
Which pizza shop? Pizzacletta? That place is really good.

like cycling, its all europe based - us has no major international ultra events.
latest cyclo cross farce shows how bad us is for international events.
only australia is worse.
Don't let the Western States people hear that.
But I agree the US is quite provincial when it comes to ultra running.
I am biased as an Air Force Tech Sgt, but this guy is someone I cannot support. Getting kicked out of the Air Force for a DUI and cheating then whining about it, Walmsley seems permanently wet behind the years. Karma will sort it out.
You are what is wrong with this country with your double-digit IQ holding grudges against people you don't know. Way to be productive.

Would have been nice to see him go against Reid Coolsaet at Western States..........
No need to slander for my opinion brother. It won't change because you chastised me. Officers are expected to lead, not cheat and get arrested. He was kicked out and blamed others instead of accepting his own responsibility. If you have never served, stay out of the conversation on military ethics.

Through the grape vine……There was a rift. They felt Jim got to big time. Also during the pandemic Senseman was going door to door thinking he was going to become mayor and I don’t believe Jim’s significant other was thrilled about the possibility of covid and may have said something. Rumor has it that the cowboys got together and basically made Freriks one of Jim’s best friends basically confront him and let him know that they weren’t happy with him and he’s too big for them and wasn’t trying to promote them or what have you. I’m sure there’s more to the story and it might slightly differ than this but that’s the jist of it.
Once ultrarunning became Jim's livlihood, his ability to help them as much as they were helping him was gone, and then it was just a matter of time. If you were a pro runner, would you really bail on some training to help crew a guy at a 100 miler? Given how it would throw a monkey wrench into your training? I wouldn't.

Thanks for this. I'm not sure why people are spreading unsubstantiated rumors about a rift when someone in the group is literally saying it isn't true.
Jim has been open about wanting to win UTMB and he gave it a few cracks his way and apart from the first go, none of them panned out.
So looking to his buddy Francois and thinking maybe I should try what that dude that's won 4 times does for training is a good approach or at least, can't go worse than his last 4 attempts. It would have been stupid of him to go another year of doing WS and then UTMB and wondering why he crashed out at 100k's again...
Good for you Jim! Having the guts to chase the dream is awesome. Excellent example with his sharpening focus on his goal.

This kind of “stinks” like the GF destroyed this. Like, no she’s prolly a great person and it’s not her fault. But, Jim is constantly in pics with her and not the bois. We’ve all been in a place where one of our friends does this.
Though I would say, there is more to this. None of the cowboys like his strava posts anymore, etc.
Welcome to getting older...the guy is in his 30s. Spending all your time with the Bros gets old.

I can give you an answer to this. There are 3 parts to this.
1. Jim is mentally not a strong runner. He grew up with that mentality that pacers pull you thru rough patches. You don't have pacers in Europe.
2. Jim does not know how to fuel and take care of himself. He needs to learn to eat enough and wear enough clothes to get thru the full race.
3. That's a really interesting one. All his European Competitors have real jobs, they just run for fun, which takes a lot of stress away from racing. Jim on the other hand, has everything on the line in every race.
I think it's great that Jim gets to see and run in Europe for a longer period of time. More runners or non runners should do that.

Definitely the most important criteria for a wife.
God I hate these boards.

So you came into this thread to crap on Jim, and then tell everyone they can’t disagree with you because you’re a military snowflake with some paper morals?
GTFO.
Jim has done more to humanize what it’s like to be in the. Military than any flag-waving butt-muncher like you ever could.

As a US Navy veteran I support him. Not sure what you mean by cheating and whining about it. Karma has had plenty of time to sort it out, it's been like 10 years. How long in your book should karma hold out before exacting it's revenge?

No it's not obvious you were joking, moron. People post crap like this all day long. How hot a woman is comes up in 90% of threads where a woman is mentioned. It's not funny anymore and it's probably the reason there are hardly any women on these forums.

1. He won WSER 3 times in a row with course records twice in the baking heat. You have to be an absolute clown to think he's not mentally tough. Pacer or pacer you still have to get to the finish in a hundo, which you obviously have never done.
2. See above. You don't WSER back-to-back-back without knowing how to fuel. He didn't initially, but learned.
3. Francois D'haene and Kilian Jornet don't have "real" jobs, so no, they don't all have jobs.
