Two points: Point 1. A quick review of Saddam Hussein crossing into Kuwait, June, 1990. Point 2. Risk/reward.
This current Ukraine/Russia issue is similar to Kuwait/Iraq/K.S.A. issue, June, 1990. U.S. initially had a vague attitude about Iraq going into Kuwait then several hours later, U.S. decided to make an issue. Desert Shield/Desert Storm was expensive. U.S. was able to get K.S.A. to pay much of U.S.' expenses. H.W. Bush and his advisors didn't consider oil prices were going to go up and stay up for awhile. U.S. suffered Stagflation. A recession with high oil prices. Should current U.S. president ruin his reelection probability for Ukraine? Why?
Point 2. Risk/reward. Do you know exactly how U.S. may react if U.S. loses or U.S. is losing? Russia has home field advantage. Russia does not have complicated supply lines. U.S. does not have home field advantage. U.S. will have complicated supply lines. France and Germany don't want to help U.S. U.S., regarding tanks are out numbered. U.S. Army generals in 1980's openly discussed use of tactical nukes due to U.S. poor tank ratio versus then Soviet Union. U.S. still has a poor tank ratio versus Russia. U.S. military currently is set up to beat up on Underdeveloped Nations, countries with no tanks. No matter how important you believe is Ukraine, U.S. fighting Russia would risk nuclear conflict.
I don't believe Ukraine is worth it. There is no contract to honor in regard to defending Ukraine.
Not everyone who disagrees with you is a Russian troll.
Look, Ivan apologizer, the outcome of Russia invading Ukr will not be a ground war with US troops. What presumably will occur is that Russia is ostracized from polite society. No travel, banking, trade, etc.
Its hard for me to imagine wealthy Russians being on board with this. Either Putin is crazy or his fellow oligarchs are crazy and he is just humoring them. None of it makes any sense.
ALso, if not Ukr, then Estonia? Finland? Poland? Bulgaria? At what point do you say no? Never? That what I thought..
U.S. didn't call up nurses from public hospitals all over U.S. U.S. didn't call up psychologists, U.S. sent thousands of Marine Corps infantrymen. Marine Corps infantry can do many things. Do you need to be told what are the primary duties of Marines in hostile territories?
