Yes because the "average American" rarely reads and writes for fun. Engaging in reading and writing is indicative of having at least a slightly above average IQ. But my goodness there are some idiots here. Having a high IQ doesn't mean you have any grasp of reality. No, unlike a Leftist, I do not confuse 'having a different viewpoint to mine' with having a low IQ.
I disagree with Bad Wiggins and Canova over a lot of things, but I can recognize that both are very sharp. So are people like Trollism and Armstrong, who I disagree with over most things political.
Jamin - senior Microsoft coder, likely earning above $150K a year.
Canova - possibly the greatest distance running coach in the world.
Bad Wiggins - knowledgeable, analytical, contrarian, even if he does get it very wrong sometimes.
Magic Wizard - no further explanation needed.
El Keniano - reasons that nearly 200 Kenyan doping busts prove that Kenya is cleaner than New Zealand with zero doping busts.
Myself - officially measured IQ twice of 153 and 157. Only boy in my school year to get to any university and I got to a world famous global top 10 ranking one. Earned over $10K last week, completely self-made independent of any 'networks' I formed at university or elsewhere.
The answer to the OP's question is that both are below average.
