I used to share rojos opinion here, but I was actually happy about this outcome. A jump off would have seen tired athletes battling it out at bars lower than the winning height. I don’t see this becoming a slippery slope where all athletes in a final clear the first bar then retire from the competition with gold.
The competition is stiff, but this is up there. I've sustained major eye strain rolling my eyes at him on many occasions.

They had been jumping all night and matching watch other. To have to do a jump off at lower heights isn't a great way to determine the best jumper imo.
Now they BOTH will get offered extra apperance money for a set up rematch in one or several of the next Diamond League meets - and it will be one of the most interresting events there, top of the ticket for sure.
Good for them, good for the sport - smart move by both (or their trainers).

Are you kidding? Both of these men have suffered catastrophic injuries in the past in competition when moving up in height after setting a national record (Tamberi, 2016) or world leader (Barshim, 2018).

Murphy ties with Amos for the gold medal in 1:42.61. The photo-finish shows a true dead heat, tied to the thousandth of a second 1:42.610
The runners are given the choice to take shared gold, or have officials look at a high-speed camera to determine the winner to the 10,000th of a second.
100 times out of 100 an athlete with gold in his hand is going to keep that, not roll the dice. You can't get MORE of a gold medal.
