1) It is due to the nature of the event. people coming from all over the world. Testing isn't 100% foolproof.

2) I'm not sure where you are getting this. This is 100% unknown if having covid = the same as a vaccine. They have tested the vaccine efficacy though .

3) again, Some of this was before Delta. And those soccer matches ARE a superspreader event. just because they have having them doesn't mean they aren't. Plus they aren't disbursing from the event to places all over the globe.

Rojo is right on this one. The bigger question is why did Tokyo even accept to going through with these Olympics in 2021 knowing their population doesn’t want it and knowing they’ll place so many restrictions it makes the Games a waste of time. They should have said sorry we are unable to host during Covid. That’s a respectable response.

You have no idea how any of this works. Doctors will tell you that anyone given the opportunity should get vaccinated. We are fortunate in the USA to have that opportunity. Passing on it does not mean someone else in another country will get your vaccine.

If one person on here thinks this is how it works because of your article, that's extremely irresponsible on your part.

The article was to put it mildly.... stupid. The US has vaccinated or had one shot 84% of people older than 65. Hocker wouldn't be taking away A SINGLE DOSE from any person in the US. Also, the US isn't shipping unused vaccines to an old woman in Mexico. they are just sitting on them for now. Also the Feds and states opened up vaccines to the people who are Hocker's age - a while ago. Again, they made the decision there wasn't a scarcity of vaccines then.

I agree overall there is a shortage in the world, and that's a problem. But Hocker's one dose he didn't take doesn't change that one bit.

I think each person has the right to make their own decision regarding whether to be vaccinated. I don't know everything that went into his decision, so I won't comment on his particular situation.

However, your argument is childish if not simply ignorant. An individual's decision to get, or not get, the vaccine here in the U.S. where the vaccine is plentiful doesn't have any impact on whether an old person in a faraway land gets it. It's like not eating your peas with tonight's dinner so that people in Sudan don't starve.

What data supports the notion that if a young American takes the vaccine they are taking away a vaccine from a senior citizen in Kenya?
