It's great that she and her husband made a very personal decision to start a family. I hope they are all healthy and happy with their lives and the choices they made. But her career was essentially over following child birth.
She ran 1:59.15 after giving birth. That's a world class time. Other women have come back from childbirth to run world class times too. I'm not sure what point you're trying to make.

A company shouldn't be required to pay you for as long as it takes for you to be able to do your job again, which in Alysia's case, is to help them sell merchandise.
First, running on the track isn't the only way she can help them sell merchandise. Michael Jordan still has a contract with Nike and he hasn't played in years.
Second, *almost nobody* who goes on maternity leave (which is guaranteed by law) does their job while they're on leave. Yet, paid maternity leave is common in the US. And it is mandated in other countries. Nike employees got paid leave. Why shouldn't their athletes? Even if it does cause them a small hit in revenue, they can price that into their contracts like they do with all of their employees.
Third, we have laws about pregnancy discrimination.
https://www.eeoc.gov/pregnancy-discriminationI'm not sure why I'm bothering to respond tbh.
