Runner's World:

60-year-old Walters (a sub-2:20 marathoner in his prime) has had an impressive career and interesting life. His early running days began while his parents were on a mission in Tanzania and he went on to become an NCAA All-American and roommates with Craig Virgin. At Chicago 2015 he dominated his age group by 20-minutes with 2:45 and looks to do the same at the NYC Marathon next weekend.

He actually got Facebook messages from 12 different women. He wrote it on his back because he was trying to target runners rather than spectators.

“I run with a generic Timex, I don’t run with anything fancy. I was saying I had to be under 5:40 and we had a lot of 5:33s in there, then we had a couple of 5:42s and I was like, ‘Oh no.’ I remember at mile 23 I was struggling, and I was like, ‘Please don’t let it be 7-minute pace.’ I looked down and it was still 5:38.”

He then got up, finished the race, but was DQd for receiving assistance ... j/k; he went to the hospital where he was reported to be in stable condition.

Puskedra: "With 10-K to go, just get on the pony and ride. I was all-out, I think.  I imagined myself to be Usain Bolt, but probably looked like Luke Puskedra out there."
