First day, but you're right. He is not what he used to be for sure. Still the GOAT even if old farts like to deny it.
Huge Tiger fan here and couldn’t agree more. At least he is driving it well. But people are craving for Tiger of 18 years ago and won’t happen because of injury and age.
Agreed. The Filipinoblack had his short time of limelight. I know the golf world wants to promote diversity but seriously, lets show the real players.

I saw plenty of golf in person from Jack and Tiger. There's no question Tiger was less error prone and had more margin for error. In his prime he'd have to hit 2 or 3 poor shots on a hole to make bogey, while Jack often inexplicably would make a poor swing or chip and end up with a blemish.
But Jack was more relentless and versatile. He could win from any position in the field instead of pure frontrunner like Tiger. His second and third place finishes over several decades display how consistent he was.
More than anything, the premier competitors in Jack's era were several tiers above Tiger's era. That stands out more than anything to me, from memory of how I felt while heading to the course on those pivotal Sundays. In Jack's era those guys relished the challenge, whether it was Palmer or Player or Trevino or Floyd or Watson or Weiskopf or Miller or Casper and I could keep going for another three or four lines. They savored the chance to upend Jack and you always knew they would bring their best. That's how Jack ended up with so many runner ups in majors.
In Tiger's era it was exactly the opposite and it started early. Go back to that '97 Masters and read the comments from Colin Montgomerie before the tournament was even close to finished. He surrendered already. And that became a trend year after year from virtually all of the top guys. Occasionally you might have a second or third tier guy like Bob May or Rocco Mediate who would stand up to Tiger because they sensed it was their one shot at glory, but in general the elite guys were happy to just get out of the way.
It was beyond pathetic and stained that era for me. I guess you can give Tiger credit for intimidation. He wouldn't have intimidated Lee Trevino or Tom Watson. In Nicklaus' era you had to win. The term Top Ten didn't exist. Once Tiger came around it quickly was acceptable to limp home and be happy with your huge paycheck.

Who gives a crap about golf if Tiger ain't playing?
Seriously, the entire rest of the field is one fungible over-privileged white guy that everyone thinks is the next big thing because no one can tell them apart
This goes with the Why is Track not more popular threads!
Tiger is famous and still well liked.
They cover him.
In track if you're not first you don't get coverage.
Think about how many times the runners are crossing the finish line and the camera is on the winner acknowledging the crowd or on the ground or whatever.
There's a freaking race going on and someone, somewhere wants to see one or more of the "other" runners.
He's -1 for today (so far..thru 3 holes), so TIGER WOODS IS BACK BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Awsi Dooger couldn't be more wrong, Character is the difference! Family man vs talented whore.
Tiger and Phil and Spieth all miss the cut. Fox goes home DEVASTATED!
Anyone think that the fact he's a spokesperson for one of the sponsors of the telecast might have a teeny-tiny bit to do with him getting so much visibility?
What is the threshold that separates a "hobbyjogger" from a "sub-elite" runner?
Caitlin Clark thinks she can beat Eagles draft pick Cooper Dejean in 1 on 1
Cade Flatt with yet another DNF, this time in the SEC Championships
Do "running influencers" harm the competitive nature of the sport?
