You poor, naive soul. Most of the regular posters on this site are intermediate to advanced level, and ferocious when they spot fresh meat (a beginner).
Before they barbecue you to death, here are some basics for your situation:
- Your training will have a new dimension if you can go from running every other day to running every day. However, since you don't have that kind of time, I would recommend jogging 3 to 4 times per week, and walking the same amount of time on off-days.
- You don't have time to properly build an aerobic base. At this point, your running will probably fall into the any-running-is-good-running category. One caveat: I'd be leary of speedwork, since you may pull a muscle due to starting from scratch.
- Pacing should be varied. Do some runs at a pace where you still have enough wind to carry on a conversation. Do some runs (or parts of runs) faster by about a minute to a minute and a half per mile.
- Increase mileage gradually. I know you said you use a run/walk combo., but you need continuous jogging. Assuming that you choose to run 3 times per week, consider aiming for the following continuous jogging amounts on each workout day of the next 3 weeks: 1.5 miles, 1.5 miles, 2 miles; 2 miles, 2.5 miles, 2.5 miles; 3 miles, 3 miles, 3.5 miles
- Only you know your body, but be careful not to over-stretch. I never stretch a cold muscle (i.e. never before a run, unless I have done a warm-up jog of 10 minutes or more).
