I ran 18:48 for 5k last year and my goal this year was to run under 17:20. Last year after cross and a bad season of track from over training i took about a month off for rest and i felt good getting into cross season. My season ended with a 17:50 pr and ive been doing a lot of good workouts and hitting the times my coach wanted for me to run fast at the meets. I dont know what went wrong at my district meet because after the first mile i just got tired and it went downhill from there. Now my season is over. :(
