Hi! I am an hs junior. I run 4:43, 10:13 and 16:24 (XC). I think im a decent distance runner. However, whenever I run something like an 800 or strides or a short fast workout i seem to fall off. My best 800 is 2:19, ive never raced anything shorter, but i ran a 26 200 in a workout. I am the fastest on my team in my events, but i still get creamed in the 800 and speed workouts. How much of speed is genetic and what can i do to improve? I already have workouts from my coach, but if there's some extra peripherals or something that could help that would be great. Also if theres any old threads about this, that would help too. Thanks!
