Amel speaks about his way to fenomenal results in this year.
Interview was in Brunico where he trains with his coach Gianni Ghidini.
First, his goal was to qualify for Beijing this year which happened in Velenje, Slovenia with a great time of 1:44:19. He was afraid that it might be imposible to repeat that performance, because in athletics once in career you have best performance and after that it's hard stay close to that result.
His coach thought he can progress max to low 1:43.
Special moment was in Madrid, because it happened on July 11th. That's the day when genocide in Srebrenica happened and this year it was 20 years after it. Days before in Bosnia that's the main topic in our media.
As he has progressed this much, IAAF and world anti doping agency took him more seriously, so he now sends his location and other data that are relevant.
After one good training session coach Ghidini told him that he can run 1:44:XX which was great considering his PR of 1:46:XX. After Monaco, Ghidini was suprised but he explains this as a result of racing and shaping his fitness. Tuka relies on his coach as he is a world class and doesn't think to much about his training plan.
He explains his career path. Before athletics, he trained karate for six years and first race was in school meetingg where he beats some guys from athletic club (400m). After that choach aproach him and asked if he would like to train athletics. First training in new sport for him was on January 1st 2009.
He mentioned Jeremy Wariner as he used to watch him on TV and likes his style.
My english isn't the best. :) I just tried to translate the most important information from interview.
