At altitude and hot weather in a National Championships will produce slow times.
2,200 feet does NOT count as being "at altitude" come up to at LEAST 3,000 before you can tell ANY effects... Maybe if more Canadians trained at altitude they'd realize 2,200 feet is practically nothing.

Key word TACTICAL
According to a 2008 review article by Bärtsch and Saltin, the effects of altitude on endurance performance can be observed at elevations as low as 2,000 feet above sea level.
Times mean nothing in a tactical race.
The blind guy and his seeing eye dog slowed everybody down.
No NCAA's in Canada. No running scholarships at most universities. Best runners go south. Less sponsorship opportunities unless you are 100m world champ.

2,999 feet = no effects? What about 2,998? 2,997?
Stupid Canadians.

I ran in Edmonton. Perfect place to run the 800m. 1500m is much more difficult. I have to assume that the 5000m is even more difficult.
If the women don't make it tactical, you could have a great 800m tomorrow. There are 3 women that have standard, but another 3 that need standard by tomorrow (and are within 1 second) if they want to go to WC. My guess is that one of the 3 will decide to push from the start.
We could see 3 women below 2:00.
