Hey Letsrun,
So last night I just competed in my last 2 mile of the year and ran a terrible time of 10:06. My previous races were only around 10 flat. Anyways, I really want to get the best out of myself my senior year(high school) and that's to reach pr's of 4:25 and 9:30. My pr's are 4:33 and 9:58. The problem is that my coach tends to burn me out year after year with workouts that just don't suit me. For example, in the beginning of February we were already doing 400 repeats and 200s. I just think these should be practiced more middle to late season? Idk, but that's what I've always been told. I was able to run mile repeats consecutively at around 5:10 with 3 min rest beginning-mid season then noticed how hard they had become. I felt signs of overtraining and I think this is because my coach burnt me out having me run 200s, 400s, and 800s so damn often early in the season. I work better with longer repeats like k's and miles. So I really want to transfer to this other school who I've heard has a really good coach who tends to actually get along with his runners, unlike mine who will just bash on me for the next 2 hours at practice because of my poor racing, even though I do his workouts. I wanna reach 70 miles this summer and hopefully run a sub 16 5k. Should I transfer to another school to reach these goals because of my relationship with my coach? Thanks
