Jenna Prandini may have run a new collegiate record of 10.92 on Saturday, but her teammate Jasmine Todd is likely to beat that time. Why do I think this? Because Todd is a year younger than Prandini and she has already run an 11.03, something Prandini did not do last year. To top that, I think Prandini's record time in the 200 meters will also be beaten this year, but by another teammate, true freshman Ariana Washington. Mark my words.
So why didn;t Washington run last week?

I'm happy. I'm a big fan of Prandini. However, I'm a little disappointed as well. It's not possible to run 10.92 'unaided'.

Todd had a 4.2w, adjusted time 11.23. Prandini had a 1.4 corrected to 11.0, so Todd is basically 0.23 seconds behind, i.e. not very close.
Great talent plus great coaching. Most of these super talents have crappy coaches but Taylor knows what he is doin up there.
And to the OP... I think the 10.92 is pretty safe, but they will may get close in a few years. Also, Ari def won't run 22.42 this year but that is realistic in a few.

They why haven't they done anything with Christian Brennan? She came in with times of 23.4/52.1 from her soph year in HS. She should be running sub-23 and sub-51 by now.
nobody has a 100% success record improving every talented athlete in their charge in their career.
that is every coaches goal but sometimes the coach makes errors, sometimes the athlete makes errors. only those closest to each individual situation knows the reason things don't go right.
look for strong trends when making judgements about coaches.
Curtis Taylor has been VERY successful at each level he has coached. HS/Club and JUCO. To make the jump straight to Oregon and have the immediate and consistent results he has had lets me know the guy can flat out coach.

Sometimes kids just aren't motivated to improve and do the little things even when they have a great coach and talent. You can't force a kid to want it.

Precisely. Not every athlete has the motivation, commitment and outright courage to be a great athlete. Brennan was already trending the wrong way before she arrived at UofO.
Both Curtis and Caryl Smith-Gilbert are disciples of the late Tony Wells and use almost exactly the same coaching methods. Why hasn't anyone noticed the great job that she has done at SC, especially with Andre De Grasse?

The answer to your question is partially answered within your own post...her PR came as a high school sophomore. Rather that assume she doesn't have the right habits or isn't getting the coaching let's take into account her major injury during her last year of high school and then her hamstring injury that shortened her freshman year at Oregon. She is now a Soph and is actually showing some flashes, with a solid 200 last week. I am thinking that watching her teammate, Horsley, drop from the mid 55's down to 53.7, might motivate her a bit.

R.I.P. Tony... Tony was the man! His influence on coaching will have major ripples for a long long time. Carol and Tony are both in the top echelon of all sprint coaches right now and most of the others in their company have been influenced by Tony as well. They are carrying the torch well.

U of O sprint coaches are doing a lot right and have been for years with the 400m guy, Mike Berry, who ran 44 high or 45, English Gardner, who I think broke 11, Prandini at 10.92 already, Devon Allen, last year's NCAA champ and record holder at 13.16 (is he healthy again and competing after the playoff injury?), and others.
Allen's 13.16 is not the collegiate record.Maryland's Renaldo Nehemiah's 13 flat in '79 is the record.
