just started using strava, and i know a lot of ultra/trail type guys use it. it's interesting to follow their training in detail... any good road/track runners use it who are worth following?

lauren fleshman
scott bauhs
kara goucher
can't think of anyone else
the pros don't put up all their runs - just a few, here and there
bauhs does a lot of slow runs - interesting. Just 7-8 min/mile jaunts.
Dylan Wykes, Canadian 2012 Olympic Marathoner (and 2nd fastest Canadian of all time) has been posting some. He'll even take the time to answer questions about his training. which is nice.
I know there are a number of Grand Tour cycling pros on Strava. Mark Cavendish and Laurens Ten Dam are among them.
Not sure there are any runners with those kinds of superstar career accomplishments on Strava, but there are a few pro/semi-pro types. Strava isn't just for the "Cat 6" crowd and weekend warrior wannabes, and it's kind of cool for the mere mortals to see what the best in the world can do on segments and routes that everybody can attempt.

Agreed! One of my friends who lives in California had a top 10 time on a segment that the following year was in the tour of California. The day after the race route went over it, he checked the leaderboard and he was down 20 places. It wasn't even a climb at the end of the stage, it was during the middle of the stage. We laughed about it.
What is the threshold that separates a "hobbyjogger" from a "sub-elite" runner?
