Many note that cadence should remain at 180 regardless of the pace. Yet, videos of, e.g., Kenyan runners on easy runs indicate that their cadence is MUCH lower than this.
Is there any consensus on this?

I say there's no reason cadence should remain at 180 regardless of pace. Tyson Gay's reaches about 260.
