Usually i do indoor track but this winter my parents arent letting me. I am very busy every night with homework and studying. How much a week should i run if i would like to maintain my performance with my limited schedule?

80-100 mpw.

This seems hard to fit in a schedule, bc that would be around 11 miles a day, which i dont have the time for

Excuses, excuses. You're not tough enough.

From what I have heard you talk about in the past, you sound similar to Gerry Lindgren. He was mediocre until he upped his mileage. He could stick with anyone and run any type of race because he couldn't be tired out. I think you should try to get into the 120-140 mile range this winter. I can see you doing great things, just put in the miles.

Lol, you people are crazy. 9th grade? Probably havent seriously ran until XC this year? Try 40-50mpw, and up it just a little bit if you can handle more. Don't run yourself into the ground. Just run

Ok, next summer i am definitely going to do the 120-140 mpw plan, but right now i don't have enough time for that much running because of school. Would i see a large gain with 70 mpw compared to the 40 mpw i usually do?

If you were physically able to maintain it you might. But odds are you will end up plodding around at much slower paces to reach that many miles, and be mentally done by track season, if not injured from overuse. Bump to 50, maybe 60 a few times, and run the miles quicker, higher quality. If you catch yourself just plodding around slowly, take a break and don't run instead. Mileage is just a number, and every body is different in their sweet spot. Don't chase high mileage, let it come naturally. 120-140 is what professionals with 10+ years of running behind them do. Any more than 100 is usually very stupid for a high schooler, and most can't handle it physically.
No, you will not see any gain at all. In fact, I think you've already peaked and should hang up the shoes. Better luck next time, lad.
0/10 this gave it away

Any other advise?
Study the difference between nouns and verbs.
why wouldn't you do indoor? you're going to be just as busy in the spring. The only reason I wouldn't do indoor is if my school had an outdoor team but not indoor. That said, you should make it your goal to run every day.

9th graders should NOT be running 80-100 or 120 MPW, so don't listen to those guys.
How much did you run in CC in the fall? Rule of thumb is to not increase weekly mileage by more than 10% a week, and if you DO that, I would increase three weeks and then step it back on the 4th week before increasing again.
My 9th grade son was running 45 MPW during CC and now has upped that to 60 (that was his biggest week ending on Sunday). He just went up 3 weeks in mileage, so he's stepping it down to 45 miles this week before upping it again. He wants to do 90 miles per week, but I'm going to have him top out at 70 this year; fortunately he respects my opinion on that. If he does a lot in the summer, maybe he can start inching up toward 90 as a max week next year.
If you're only a freshman then try 50-60. No 9th grader is too busy that they can't run that much.
