Supplements are generally non-heme iron which are hard to absorb, so that you have to eat more of it, so that it interferes more with absorption of zinc.
You also might be eating many things that interfere with absorption of iron, the solution to which is to stop eating them at the same time as iron, not to eat more iron.
And you might have a thyroid problem, another silent killer of PR's.

Avoid consuming calcium rich foods with your iron source.
Take vitamin C with your iron source.
Avoid consuming green tea with your iron source.
Don't go too far and overdose on iron, it will f*ck your body up. Messes up your heart and I'm not sure what other organs, but it's bad news Jack.
Very bad advice. Iron levels that are too high is more common than levels that are too low.
You could die for one.

As others have said, you could ingest too much. You should talk to your doctor before supplementing with iron.
Too much iron can destroy your liver.
