Runners,
Most of you probably know the 4 second "rule" of Horwill. My PR's are slower than Horwill would expect from an aerobically well developed runner.
PR's in second/lap and expected lap times according to 4 second rule
800: 59.6
1500: 64.4-63.6
3000: 70.0-67.6
5000: 74.1-71.6
10000: 80.0-75.6
For me 5 seconds is closer, that gives
64.6
69.6
74.6
79.6
How to improve my aerobic system? Do my easy runs at a faster pace? I run them know at average ~8:50/mile with hr average at 70% of max heartrate. Should I push the pace to 75% of max? Or should I run much more miles? Currently at 50 miles/week and 35/week in track season.
Thanks in advance.
