Because this isn't high school. It happens all the time. Why don't you focus on the fact that those two uniforms went 2-3.

Nope. It would not be a DQ in any place for HS running. The matching uniform rule is only for relay teams.
Get over it...Oregon had at least three different uniform styles; Washington has a purple, a black and a white top; Texas A&M has several different variations. Even Kansas which is sponsored by adidas had a white and a blue top!

If they both wore something that said Penn State then their outfits were distinctively identifying them as members of the same team.
We often wore different uniforms when I was in college.

The fact that you recognized both runners as Penn State athletes proves that the uniforms meet the definition you posted.
How about people giving PSU program crdit for getting their guys to 2-3 in this race and Creese to 1500M final, when they get trashed every year for running out of gas
Great year for PSU really and Kidder is very good, with wheels and is going to run some great stuff, next three years

Where would that be a dq in high school? This was neither cross country nor a relay. I have never seen a rule against different uniforms in a high school individual event.
