But he was wearing 3/16" spikes. That converts to no better than 57.3 in 1/8" spikes.

I have had the opportunity to watch Hartle run for the past 4 years in Vegas and the kid is one of the most talented runners I have ever seen, and certainly I have ever seen in the history of the state of Nevada. I know that doesn't speak volumes because Nevada is one of the weaker states as far as depth goes, but this kid is an incredible runner. He has taken down some of the best talent at Arcadia and Mt. Sac. He can compete with anyone in the country at the 800. I think he could be great at 1500m, and I hope UCLA knows how find his best event and help him grow in that event.
By far, the most impressive part about him is his range. When you watch the kid run, he simply glides and makes every distance look effortless.
I wish him luck at UCLA. It has been awesome to witness such a great talent. Not sure how far he will go at the NCAA and pro level, but I the sky is the limit with this kid. Just needs the right coaching and needs to stay committed.

Aren't these weak times to win state championships? The 4 & 8 are pretty decent, but I know in my state (NJ) he would've been thrashed in every event..
Hardly "Thrashed". Based on last years times in New Jersey he would have had 2 seconds and 2 3rds. Not a bad meet by any standards. And New Jersey only had two runners place in any two of these events.
Give credit where credit is due. By the way what did you run in these events?
Yes he would've been thrashed in NJ.
http://nj.milesplit.com/meets/87175/results/162430also, NJ MoC last year was full of controversy. Firstly, it was held in over 100 degree weather. Secondly, When the weather cooled slightly, it began to thunderstorm, robbing Joe Rosa of a state 3200m record 400m away from the finish.
also, the poster you just responded to is a 1:51 open, 1:50.2 split 800m runner. I've seen him split 47 low in a 4x4 and he now runs for a D1 school on an athletic scholarship.
Know your role ladies and gentlemen.
With that 400m time he is wasting his talent or more specifically having it wasted for him
Should be doing 400m and 800m. Why do they not have more points for faster times than have kids run themselves into the ground.

So he's slower than the high school kid he's knocking? Good to know.

It appears that he does run the 400m and 800m.
Way to go, kid. Every coach in the country would be thrilled to have him. Definitely seems like 1:46/3:39 at the very least for college. Like someone said, this is Coe-esque speed, and he apparently has the desire to train for and race longer distances.
Clearly this kid is a great talent with amazing range and, one would think, a ton of potential. But...
Can anyone shed some light on the status of things at UCLA, especially as it relates to their mid-d and distance program? I know things have been not-so-good there in past years, to put it mildly. How are JG and the program doing?

I'm sure I read something about Webb running a 46.3.... wait a minute.... oh Yes here it is ---- "Webb runs 46.3 in his sleep!" ---- SEE, I knew I was right! Webb ran a 46.3!
Based on the Nevada kid's range, talent and competiveness (anyone who even attempts that quadruple at a state meet, let alone wins every race in impressive fashion is obviously ridiculously competitive), I would say he could spank any one of your NJ kids in any race 800M and above if he were to focus on it all season.
Know your role, fool.
I guess he will have a chance to do it at dream Mile or Nationals? Is he running either one??
The 400 is pretty good, 800 is decent the other 2 are not great. The competition was weak and it was spread over a 2 day period. In Texas all events run in a few hours and the times are much faster. When you can win 2 events within 2 hours of each other with sub-48, sub-1'53,sub-4'10 or sub-9'15is more impressive.
How much faster he could have ran elsewhere with tougher competition we don't know. How fast he truly is in each event? We can look at any big competitive meet he ran and compare times, and there are also PR's we can look at. But not impressive.
Just looked at his PR's and he looks to be an 800m guy.
Ahem...

Thank you, you illiterate cunt.
Any other dorks with an inferiority complex want to embarrass their home state? So far we've got California, Pennsylvania, Texas, and New Jersey flexing about how tough they are. Fitting.
Good God,
Quite comparing this kid to your crappy states. Outside of Robby Andrews, this kid could easily compete in NJ.
his 400 ranks him 3rd ALL time in New Jersey
his 800 ranks him 10th ALL time in NJ (clearly is has run faster.
His 16/ 32 time would probably be top 20. Not great but he wasn't pushed.
These are times for this ONE MEET.
His bests put him 3rd all time in the 400, 2nd all time in the 800, 4th All time in the 1600 (his 3200 is still out of the ranking but oh well).
p.s. dmr splits don't count for diddly.
Hartle seems like a good dude with a strong future. Let's promote American runners instead of tearing the down.

Well then why don't you just make up a time, and say that's what he ran.
Because he DID NOT run the time you have said.
lol, not another one of these guys...
of course he ran it. He even said he ran it, and it's not like that is something that should surprise anyone. Now, if he said he ran a 45 in high school, I'd be questioning it, but a mid 47? No brainer for a 1:47 guy.
