my buddy told me his college coach used the 2 LB per inch of height rule, i would say you're good based on that
There is no one ideal weight for a given height.
Every body type is different. And if you're a vegan you need to man up and eat some meat.
I was 5'11" and usually weighed between 135-140 when I was competitive. That seemed like a good weight for me. How about somewhere between 130 - 140 for your height?.
"The best runner is the best fueled runner who is genetically gifted."
- Told to me by a nutritionist who occasionally writes for Running Times
Obey your hunger, don't worry about the occasional indulgence, eat well for the most part, and your body will tell you what it needs/will take care of the rest. The worst thing you can do is to under-fuel. I have practically ruined two seasons because I got caught up in the "thinner is faster" mindset. So seriously, keep the above quote in mind - I know it has helped me. And if that doesn't convince you, just look at Solinsky, Alan Webb (back in his prime), Craig Mottram, etc. All of those guys were beasts and were more than a bit larger than your average 115 lb Kenyan. I personally still struggle with this very issue so I just don't want someone else to start heading down the path that I have been down. Hope this helps.

So someone who is nearly 6' 2'' should be 148? Sounds suspicious to me.

This^^^.
Height does not take into account all dimensions of one's frame. We all know guys who are 5'6" and 210 pounds of solid rock. We all know guys who are close to 6' and 130 pounds, soaking wet with rocks in their pockets. Height DOES NOT determine what weight you should be on a individual basis.
Your ideal weight is that weight to which you arrive by running enough to train well without overtraining and eating enough to recover without overeating and gaining weight. Your body will decide what its ideal weight is.
you are really light and if you are strong enough, that is a good thing. lasse viren was close to your dimensions.
I'm 5'10 and weigh 140 to 141. Running around 115 to 120 a week.

i guess so, if you went to the naval academy. i thought it was a bit weird too, but it fit his profile.
9 and a half stone.

Maybe, but I am 160 at 6' 2'' and if I was 148, I would be emaciated!
I'm 5'10" and weigh 128-130.
It really depends on your body type, but 130 might be a little low. Personally, I'm also 5'10" and my weight is usually between 135-150. I usually feel best right around 140 and usually only get down to 135 the last few weeks before a major peak. Again, it depends on your body type, and also your event. I'm a 1500/5k guy so I'll trade a little upper body strength for a few pounds, but if you're a marathoner maybe not.
I'm 5'10" and usually 165-170. Run 70-90 miles per week. If I starve myself for a few months I could get down to 160 but will get dizzy after running more than one hour.
My dad was of similar build. He was 5'9"ish and 150 in his prime and ran 2:17 at Boston.
Definitely a wide range of optimal weights according to your body type. Just eat enough good foods and train a lot and you'll be in a good spot.
I'm 5'10 and been between 125-165 during my running career. At 125, I looked way too thin but also ran my 5k PR at that weight. 135-145 seemed like the perfect range for myself. Currently at 155, don't feel as fast but the body has never looked better.
Are you asking this question from an attractiveness or performance point of view? If the former, it is good to have lots of muscle mass and definition. If the latter, your current scrawny physique will do.
welcome.
I was 5' 10 1/2" and 139 when I was most competitive but that was when I was 19. Even if I hadn't been plagued by so many injuries and had kept up the mileage that I had been doing I think I still would have filled out to something more like 145. But I know guys who were my height and super competitive and close to ten pounds lighter and some close to ten pounds heavier.

This is a stupid rule, as it would put a 5' girl at 120 lbs. and a 7' guy at 168 lbs.
