I'm going to a wedding in DC next month and I'm bringing my new girlfriend with me. She's never been to DC before. Aside of the Capitol and the washington monument, she'd like for me to show her around. I haven't done that DC toursit stuff in close to 20 years. What are good places to visit during the day and for night life.

Even though I live in DC I have no idea where you should bring a girlfriend. Just do touristy stuff I guess..

The Mall and the Smithsonians can easily fill a day. What kind of nightlife are you seeking? Dancing? Theatre? Strip clubs? Mellow Bars? DC has a pretty diverse scene - you need to be more specific.

I'm going to go with the Smithsonian and Mellow bars. I remember going to Adams Morgan on the weekends in college but that was so long ago that I can't remember anything there.
We are going to be in DC for a wedding and I am a groomsman so we wont have that much time to see everything. I guess pretty much am looking for stuff to fill up all day Thursday, Friday night and Sunday. It's pretty much a free for all after the rehersal dinner on Friday night and the wedding and reception will take up all of Saturday.

maybe take her to the air and space museum? girls LOVE that place.
But it all seriousness, Georgetown is pretty nice; the waterfront is pretty good too. If you're looking for a run or a walk, the C and O canal is pretty peaceful for that sort of thing. and of course, the smithsonian museums could take up a weeks worth of visits.
have fun! there's a lot to do in DC.
If you like to bar hop then go to Adams Morgan.
There are lots of good restaurants in Bethesda, MD. Some really good bars too (Barking Dog, Tommy Joe's)
Rock Creek Park is where it's at for running in DC. Also running around the Tidal Basin can be fun to. Nothing is better than seeing some fat/obese person walking to close to the water when you are running by. Giving them a nudge into the water is a blast (I am not kidding either, I used to run the Tidal Basin 3k every month and one month this fat son-of-a-bitch was right in my way, so I knocked the mofo into the water and kept going-I would have won the race too, but some guy named John Jordan from Georgetown destroyed me).
Stay out of Southeast and Northeast DC. Both very ghetto places. You'll likely get shot if you go there.

Make sure you check out the C&O canal, and the towpath, and the Capital Crescent Trail.
Also check out Rock Creek.
Seriously though...
Take her to Good Guys in Glover Park. Best food in town, and very classy. Right up near the Whole Foods. You won't need reservations b/c the place is huge and it is a well-kept secret among locals, so no need to call ahead. Just show up and dress nice. She will love it!
