20hrs of study hall a week is not a little amount by any means. since most schools don't have study halls EVERYDAY that would be lots of hours daily.
but really, the whole promised scholarship thing will really wear on kids after a while, sucks that they have that going on there.

Those two Big Ten runners were cancers to the team and the team was much better off without them. One of them is a complete douche and still emails the coach like a psycho demanding an explanation for his dismissal.
Here's a hint- you're a psychopath, buddy, and you couldn't hack it as a Big Ten runner. Get over it and go to dental school, dude. YOU'RE OUT OF ELIGIBILITY. MOVE ON WITH YOUR LIFE, LOSER.
geez...looks like I opened up a can of worms here. I don't know enough about what happened to say much more than I already did, but I will say that with a reply like that, YOU sound a little bit psycho here.
I ran at Carolina and loved it and miss it more everyday. Clay and I ran together. He is a great kid with a big heart and unbelievable talent. What happened, which I'm still wishing is hearsay, is a tragedy. Either way I'm tired of reading and hearing about people who quit and/or were kicked off the team. I was on that team and I knew more than 3/4 of those kids. No disrespect when I say this but pretty much all of these people just never had it. Sure there are problems with the team and coaching, name a place where there isn't. What I'm saying is that so many of these people show up at Carolina, look at it, and get caught up in all of it b/c it is an unbelievable place. For some reason they think that just b/c they are there that in some mystical way they will just start performing. Well when it inevitably does not happen, they all do the same thing. They blame the program, coaches, school, etc. Sack up and look in a f***ing mirror. I got hurt and ran like shit at the end of my career. I take the credit for that. Shit happens, I know I worked hard and did what I could. f***ing Life happened. Oh and I wanted to leave this. If you've never been on the team, you don't have a f***ing clue what you're talking about. Shut the f*** up and find something better to do with your time.

Amen.
Just a thought.
How about you "sack up" and post your name. Another thought. How about you stop telling people what to do and how to feel. That list of athletes is very long and very sad. As alumni, you should be just as ashamed at what has happened with this program at a school that does not tolerate this kind of descension within it's sports programs. Stop using the f word. I am not addressing what did or did not happen with Clay, but rather with your posting on this forum telling everyone what they should do. Find a more constructive way to post your point, or at least "sack up" and own your words with your name
For the record. I am an alumnus of UNC as well. I did not run on the track or cross programs, but I played soccer for them from 1989-1993.
Shane Anderson
Shane, I don't think I have ever posted the F word.
That being said, I think we can all agree that no good can come from posting your name on this site.
Even Jesus gets flamed on LetsRun.
I agree with Shane.
You guys are a disgrace to UNC, too bad you cannot be like the other teams.
Just so you know I am also an alum of UNC, although I was not on the Track&Field or Cross-Country teams.
I played basketball at UNC from 1980 to 1984.
You guys all need to "Sack Up."

that made my day, thanks.
Come on guys, why can't you just "Sack Up?"
I am spinning in my grave here!!!!

I was the very first student though.

Thats called coaching! You recruit the right guys and create a culture.
UNC is prob a fun place but there are a lot of great places that succeed on the track and in XC.
Colorado #1 party school a couple years ago
Texas #1 party school 2 years ago.
ASU Top party school
Wisco # 1 party school before
They seemed to get it done.
It is always the coach.
They recruit the athletes and they create the culture.
Too many walk-ons at UNC, that is the problem.
The walk-ons corrupt the structure of the team.
Falcor went to UNC, right?
Yeah, he did!
This is about the 4th or 5th thread over the last 6 months about the bad state of affairs at UNC. It seems there are a lot of very disgruntled current and former athletes.
well its intersting considering the program UNC used to be...
Those falcor links are beyond hilarious.
It is obviously the same person starting all of the UNC threads.
Very mature.
I would hope whoever started this thread didn't go to UNC, there are some fairly horrendous spelling errors (ie. 'obserd'.)

As someone who has walked on to a collegiate team, I'm very confused by your argument. Walk-ons contribute to the team by working with the recruited athletes in workout groups that may not have a lot of depth in that event otherwise. Many of them like myself also enjoyed successful college careers. Also, walk-ons have a great work ethic by going in everyday knowing that they have to work harder and harder to get to the level of the recruited athletes. They provide a great energy to the athletes that may become complacent with their status on the team to work harder. Not to mention they usually raise the overall GPA of the team. I know for a fact that there are at least a couple of Morehead scholars on the UNC team that are walk-ons, one of them is the team captain in fact.
But, you're right. Walk-ons do corrupt the team....good one.
By the way, I've seen Clay run before and I am very saddened to hear the news. And as for the frat fight, it confirms my belief that most frat guys are pricks that have to buy their friends.
wow. What a list?
