What was the weather like @ the start of the 10k that this girl had to wear gloves? Or is it a ritual/tactic I've never learned?

it's to keep her fingers out of her nose.

Looking at the schools, they were more than likely in northern new england. A lot of meets run a 10K early, so the weather was probably in the low 50's.
I kept mine on for all of London. I have poor circulation in the fingers and toes and coming from a warm climate (Spain) to a cooler one (London) along with it being wet, I found it cold enough to wear them the whole way.
Although by race time the temp was probably in the mid 60s, about an hour beforehand it was more like low 40s/high 30s. The change was pretty abrupt, she probably just didn't notice it.
"Raynaud's phenomenon" -- Google and read.
Gloves feel good up into the 60 degree area. Not correctable.
I where gloves often as well, hands get cold easily.
Of course I was being sarcastic about Meb ;-)
