I would like to comment to those skeptics on this post -- namely Dude in Drag and Two and a Half cents. It really pisses me off when someone runs fast and people like you guys/gals come on here and say they are on drugs. This is ridiculous! Why is it so hard to believe that some who has trained hard, been injury free and made consistent improvements, runs a 2 second PB??
Rebecca is a talented athlete who has shown she is on her way to a world-class level so it shouldn't be surprising that she has run this time. It is very common for athletes that receive an increased training load, good coaching and a competitive training environment to make great improvements, especially in their early 20s. I have seen so many cases where girls run a 10 second or more PB from high school just because they start training harder.
I ran a 6 second PB over 1500m (4:14 to 4:08) last year -- does this mean I'm on drugs? No chance! I just trained my ass off, had good coaching and got in a good competitive race situation.
So, can we just give credit where credit is due and get off it about someone improving at this level being on drugs. It's not like the girl ran 1:55! This is a steady improvement that comes with hard work.
Anyway, good job Rebecca -- keep up the great work!
