I know this is a running website and I shouldn't be asking ridiculous questions that have absolutely nothing to do with running.....
But this particular question has been burning away and it just won't let me rest. I'm sure that at least one Letsrunner can answer it. And if you, too, have never bothered to think about this particular question--well, you're in for a long sleepless night.
My question for you, Dr. Laura, is: How do people who live in the border zones adjacent to different time zones set their clocks?
In other words, if I live in Mountain View, Tennessee (for example--I'm inventing a place), and it's a few miles into the Central Standard Time (CST) zone, but I work in Easton, Tennessee, 15 miles east, which is in the Eastern Standard Time (EST) zone, how do I set my clocks at home, and how do I make sure that I'm not late for work at the factory? If my factory job starts at 8 AM EST, that's 7 AM CST. Do I get up at 5:30 CST and leave home at 6:30 CST so that I arrive in time after my half-hour commute?
Seriously. I've never seen a word about this sort of stuff on any website, ever. Yet there must be a whole world of inter-time-zone madness along selected American fault lines that none of us know about.
Dating must be a nightmare along the time-zone lines. "What time should I pick you up?" "6 would be great." "Is that CST or EST?" "Ah.....ah......"
