Despite strong winds, Ekiru won by 4-minutes, not far off the 2:08:27 course record. Olympic steeplechaser Donn Cabral made his marathon debut for 3rd place in 2:19:16. The women's title went to Vivian Jerono Kiplagat (2:36:22).
