I've wanted to like On for a long time but haven't been able to find a shoe they made that felt like a real running shoe. When I first saw the Cloud Monster I was hopeful, but after running in it, it just wasn't quite right. The newest Cloud Surfer was also a glimmer of hope, but still just wasn't quite right. After seeing the CloudEclipse I was really excited. It married what worked for me from the Monster and from the Surfer and created a great running shoe. The upper is still a little weird for me, and it bunches a little around the toe box, but that is my only complaint.

I have done easy miles as well as track intervals at sub-5 minute pace and they've felt fantastic! Great shoe, I'm excited with this new direction On is taking with their running shoes.

The Cloudeclipse is different from the other max cushion shoe from On, the Cloudmonster, and the super cushy but mushy Cloudsurfer. It has the same CloudTec Phase as the Surfer but with an added speedboard. This gives the Cloudeclipse a nice response along with all that nice cushion. The outsole seems to be more durable than the Cloudmonster and doesn't feel "bumpy" as your foot goes from heel to toe. It runs pretty true to size. The shoelaces are flat and have a nice texture which ensures that they won't come untied. Color choices are limited but perhaps they'll come out with more. The only complaint I have is that the clouds make a little noise while you're running or walking. I'm anticipating that will disappear once I run on some dirt. I've heard from others that the Surfer suffered from a similar issue and the fix was to get dirt inside the clouds to rough up the surface. Overall, I am excited to run some long miles in these shoes.
