While the Brooks Adreline doesn’t excel in any particular category, it performs at or above average in all of them, and thus works well as an all around daily trainer (for recovery runs, long runs), but is not necessarily the best choice for tempos or track workouts considering its weight. I find that it performs well for me both on pavement and crushed gravel trails, and have even found success using it on single track trails that aren’t too technical. The factors that appeal to me the most about the shoes though are by far the price and the durability, as I am the type who often likes to push a shoe beyond it’s recommended lifetime, and have taken the Brooks Adrenaline to 700 miles plus with no issue (that is to say no injuries or noticeable change in comfort or form). An all around quality shoe.
I've warn higher-stability Brooks shoes since I got my first pair of Addictions as a eighth grader two decades ago. After successful high school career training solely in Addictions, I tried other brands and off and on for 8 years and kept getting injured: toe pain, hip pain, & knee pain due to wonky stride. I switched to an older generation Brooks Ravenna for 4 years. I liked the feel, but still couldn't run pain free. I've had much less pain since I got my first Adrenalines for 3 years ago.
These are bulky, unglamorous, highly cushioned shoes. I'd love to have another primary shoe, but these work best for me: I have narrow heels compared to my forefoot so the Brooks have always been the most comfortable. I have a weak arch one side and the stability/cushioning keeps me pain free on both my "good" and "bad" feet. With all that cushioning, my Adrenalines wear unevenly fairly quickly, and I retire shoes around 250 miles.
To make up for the clunkiness of my Adrenalines, I run in a lighter pair of Brooks Ricochets about once a week, but I'll be wearing Adrenalines for most training for a long time.
Good shoes to keep your feet off the ground
Best shoes ever!
The only shoes I can wear with my shin splints.
These shoes are amazing. Right out of the box and ready to run. I've been running on these shoes since the 18 and I've never had a blister or a complaint!
As I didn't wait for a discount, I was eager to break into my new Brooks kicks and I am happy with the results. Excellent fit, form and function, as these were well worth the money. I'll buy these again as ny next pair of trainers...
Wonderful model and continue to be my work horse shoe. I enjoy the upper and ride.
This shoe is comfortable and helps with recovery and easy day runs. It also has helped me with my knee and hip problems with its good support. I do need new ones about every 400 miles. And they dont have the best tread but they work for recovery.
I started out with Brooks Ghost shoes, but I started experiencing ankle/heel pain when wearing any shoes. I tried the Adrenaline, and my ankle/heel pain went away, and I didn’t get any blisters. I think they are good shoes, but I don’t love the styling. I feel like they look like they are made for older runners-and I wish they looked like they were for any runner.
