I am 71 years old. I started running as a sophomore in HS (9:40 2 miler, 4:30 miler)) and have run ever since, (with long breaks in my 20s, then in my 50s). But for the past two years seriously running again. Last winter I ran 27:23 for 5 K, and hope to run much faster this summer. I discovered Altra while brosing at REI. I bought a pair, thinking to try them them take them back, but I still have them (Provision 5). The 'zero drop' soles and wide toes fit me perfectly, and I only wish I had had something like that when I was younger. They have changed the way I run. I used to wear out my shoes on the inside heels. Now I land on the ball of my foot. ALtra solved my injury problems. I also feel more comfortable with a slight lean forward compared to before when I leaned back. My only complaint is that they don't offer the wide toe box in all their shoes, (like the 'Vanish Carbon' their only carbon racing shoe. But these Altra shoes are all I wear now, with the older model Provision shoes as my casual walk around shoes.
