I've been an Altra fan for a while but had stopped running in their shoes due to quality. The escalante 3s felt like bricks. Even with 4mm stack it feels lower than that, but they pop off the ground well and feel good on foot. I don't think they will be incredibly durable but it should get the job done. I did a 20min tempo in them at 5:15 pace no problem.
For me those FWD experience and the Escalante from altar are the perfect shoes. They have a perfect toe box, very low amounts of drop and a light build, good for many workouts.
My favorite shoe from Altra so far. The first they've made with a 4mm drop. Cushioned and supportive. The heal has a snug fit that is different than any shoe I've run in before.
