Tired of being called doping apologists, we had to wait for the two out-of-competition tests to come back for our winners. Fortunately, they all came back negative, but as you’ll see below our winners might as well have been doping as they had some insider info.

Our winners won a pair of Asics Magic Speed shoes and a Running Warehouse Gift Certificate. Thank you Asics and Running Warehouse. Running Warehouse has been sponsoring our contests for roughly a decade and their love of competition is one of the reasons they are an online leader in running shoes.

Winner of Overall Contest Competed at NCAA XCs in March

The overall winner of our contest was Josh Romine. That name may ring a bell to some of you as Josh is a 5th-year grad student at Duke and ran in the NCAA XC Champs last March finishing in a very respectable 96th place. Josh was hoping to make it back this fall but came up just short of qualifying.
Instead of sulking, he put his knowledge to good use and won our prediction contest. Josh picked the winners of every race, the top 4 women’s teams, and the top 2 individual men. Very impressive.

David Vaughn

Winner of Team Contest Has Been Going to NCAA Champs by Car for 30 Years

The winner of the team prediction contest, David Vaughn, is a huge cross country fan. He said he and two buddies have been DRIVING for over 30 years to the NCAA Cross Country Championships. He preferred when the Champs were on a Monday as they could often hit up the D2 or D3 championships the same weekend.

David was a teacher and a track coach at Turner High School in Kansas City, KS for 35 years. He picked the top 4 women’s teams in correct order and the men’s winner as well. Well done.
