NEW YORK, NY   The Dr. Sander Invitational begins this Thursday with three days showcasing track & field’s premier athletes, both on a professional and collegiate level at The Armory in Washington Heights.

The Dr. Sander Invitational’s Armory Challenge starts Thursday (January 25) through Friday (January 26) welcoming the country’s largest gathering in one meet of national and regional college track & field teams.

The Dr. Sander Invitational’s Columbia Challenge takes place both Friday (January 26) and Saturday (January 27) with host Columbia University welcoming 15 of the top collegiate teams in the country including Oregon and UCLA and top student-athletes Missouri’s Karissa Schweizer (2017 5,000m NCAA champion) and Oregon’s Ariana Washington (2017 World Championships gold medalist and 3-time NCAA champion).

Top Olympic and elite athletes will compete throughout the day on Saturday (January 27) with a number of key events from1-3 p.m. It will be re-broadcast on NBC Sports Network from 5-7 p.m.

  • Top individuals competing Saturday during the Dr. Sander Invitational include: Ajee’ Wilson (American record holder in 800m and 2016 World indoor silver medalist), Charlene Lipsey (World Championships finalist in 800m),Craig Engels (1500m standout), Brittney Reese (Long jump 2012 Olympic gold medalist; 2016 Olympic silver medalist), Charlie Grice (British Olympian), Clayton Murphy (2015 Pan American Games gold medal in 800m and 2016 Olympic bronze medalist in 800m), Robby Andrews (2017 U.S. champion in 1500m), Kate Grace (2016 Olympian), Lauren Johnson (2015 World Championships), Courtney Okolo (2017 NYRR Millrose Games champion, 2016 Olympic gold medalist for USA 4×400), Vernon Norwood (2017 NYRR Millrose Games champion, U.S. indoor champion), Ryan Whiting (U.S., World Indoor Championships gold medalist in shot put) and Jamaica’s 4×200 menand women relay teams. Please click HERE for Saturday’s Professional Fields.
