INDIANAPOLIS — The competition map of the race course for the .US National 12K is now available, USATF announced Tuesday.

Article continues below player.

The 12K course takes runners on a loop of the George Washington Parkway, while the race starts and ends along the Potomac River in Oronoco Bay Park, with a Fan Festival featuring entertainment, USATF merchandise, photo booth and beer garden.

The course is ideal for personal bests, as the route is almost entirely flat. On last year’s course, spectators witnessed a world best in the women’s 12K, as Molly Huddle won in 37:50 for the fastest road 12K in history. Men’s champion Aaron Braun was just two seconds off the American 12K road record in 34:28. With an even flatter course in 2014, the .US National 12K provides the quintessential opportunity for elite competitors and weekend warriors alike to test their fall fitness and set new records.
