Hi all!
I've read the site, but couldn't find anything concrete yet. I'm 40 years old and am looking to train for the 400m specifically, but would love to also be capable of running a fast mile. My first goal is to break 60 seconds. I'm not super in shape, haven't run competitive track since HS, fastest time was in the mid 51s for the 400m. I ran 5ks a few years ago and seemed to plateau around 21-22minutes.
I'm trying to find a training plan aimed at adults for the 400m but can't seem to find anything. I'm aware that it takes longer to recover, etc.. I went to the track the other day and couldn't seem to break 15s for the 100m and was hovering around 33-35s for the 200m. So I know that raw speed is something to work on (can't break 60s 400 without breaking 15s 100 but realistically closer to 12s).
Are there training plans out there that are agreed upon to be good? What modifications would someone who is 40 need to make?
Thanks for any help!
