I’m a senior in high school I recently ran a 53.11 video timed 400m and also a 4:52 mile. I’ve been doing almost entirely distance work and slower miles (even though you couldn’t tell), and I wanna go sub 2. Since the track has not been open I haven’t done any VO2 max or 800 specific workouts like intervals or repeats. Just long mileage, occasional tempos and strides and some sprints to stay fast. My xc 5k is 17:16 and 2 mile is 10:22 (during xc but on a track) but I don’t think I’m in that kinda shape anymore. I was doing a lot of miles in quarantine (25-35) but I lost motivation when season was officially cancelled, so my last 2 or 3 weeks have been like below ten miles per. I’ve only managed to do some warmup jogging and then like 7 or 8 sprint/strides before calling it a day. But the 53.11 has reinvigorated me and I’m thinking I’m going to try and salvage a good 800 before I de-train from all the distance I did beforehand. Considering that I apparently have the lung capacity of someone who’s been smoking for 50 years, can I get under 2 minutes with my speed? (To clarify I don’t smoke and I treat my lungs like kings)
