Yes. Don't over-interpret the result or attempt to forecast the future from it, but it's quite decent.

Don't let the times of any extreme outliers convince you otherwise. The Lauren Ping's (for example) who are capable of sub-5:30 at that age are very rare indeed.
Agreed. It is in the upper 1%. But don't make predictions based on it. My 10 year old neighbor ran an equivalent 5:45 mile last summer which is the same time her 17 year old sister ran at that age. The 17 year old now runs 5:30.

My kids 6th grade XC Team was 3rd and missed qualifying for Nattys. Top 7 prs:
4:46, 4:46, 4:46, 4:48, 4:52, 4:52, 4:57

How would that team not win Nationals? You can run the AAU Nationals without qualifying. It just costs more money to enter.
What? We are talking about girls. Thede is not a HS team in the country with that many girls sub 5.
