Okay so today I did a time trial 1600 and I ran 4:26 which is a 3 second pr from last year. It was my first race since the indoor meet of champions so I felt kind of rusty but for a first race I feel like I'm in a good place all things considered. I've been running 40 miles a week. I do a cv workout on mondah, followed by 8 x 30 seconds uphill at 800/1600 pace and then 10 striders at 800/1600 pace. Tuesday I do an easy run (7-7:30 pace) Wednesday I do a tempo run (20-30 minutes in the 5:40s followed by a few 200s at 800 pace. Thursday I do an easy run. Friday I try to do some spped work (previous two weeks I did 8x400 at mile pace with 60 seconds rest). And then Saturday I do a 10 mile long run at like mid 6 pace, I make it a progression so I get a little faster with each mile. Anyway, indoors I ran 1:57 flat in the 800 and that was on like 30-35 miles a week. Last year outdoors I ran 4:29 and 1:58.99 on like 20-25 miles a week. So, is 4:20 or under feasible? I believe it is. I know people are going to say I don't have enough volume to do that but I'm so much stronger aerobically this year compared to last. I had really never done a tempo run until the end of February. Only started doing long runs this past fall and I only did them sparingly up until coronavirus hit because now I have ample time and I don't have track meets every weekend. All things considered, do you think it's feasible?
