Running slight downhill alone at elevation after returning from overuse is fine at 1:07, but not what he's fully capable of in a race setting if he can go without injury for a prolonged period.
But he has a bad habit of picking the wrong races to run his hardest. NY Marathon soon after Amsterdam should have been a jog, but he ran close to his first marathon time there, too, which clearly led to the overuse injury. 50-miler the week before a Marathon TT is asking for more overuse injuries again.
2024 Olympic Trial time will be tougher since by then the Ultravaporfly Alphanext Twenty% will be out and people will be running 1:40 or better and mutant bat-human hybrids from COVID-23 will be out there run-flying in full force.
