This is something that really really annoys me. When someone crosses the finish line to win a race and shoots up that index finger to say, "i'm number one." Why do people do that? It seems arrogant and obnoxious. Even if I was crossing the line earning a gold medal at the olympics I still wouldn't do it. If anything, I'd hold up two fingers, that way you could say you won the race, but have to train like you're number two in order to win. Even if I had the world record, I wouldn't think of myself as the best because then you lose motivation. You have to constantly think there is someone out there who can beat you in order to run to your potential.
Obviously there's nothing wrong with pointing to the sky if you're religious or pointing to a loved one who passed away, but i'll be damned if acting like you're the best in the word isn't one of the most stupid things i've seen. And it happens everywhere. Someone will win a local road race and act like they're amazing. Those are the people I ignore. I don't mind slow people, a lot of the time I have more respect for them than fast people. Just like with celebrities. I'd say 99% of actors/actresses I wouldn't give a second look if I saw them in person. I don't give a crap about how great someone things they are, it's all about character. That's why at races I'll congratulate and talk to the person who finished middle of the pack before I talk to some asshole who won. Time, speed, etc, is all relative. It's just a matter of how you look at things.
