I can run decent times for me(many PR's recently) in local competition and I'm 180lbs!!!

I'm the heaviest I've ever been and running the fastest I ever have. I'm just a big dude and that's the way nature is.

Paul McMullen, John Walker, Peter Snell, and Derek Clayton were all pretty good sized fellas and all ran pretty darn well for their size (Of course more so the last 3 guys since they held world records).

It does make you wonder how fast you could run if you were the "standard" 5'4" 120 lbs male runner....but of course not nearly as many gals dig those types. ;-)

I'm big, I'm bubbly and I'm chubby. I just love to eat and run, but mostly I love eating. If I could lose 50 pounds I would be competitive with the top local runners, instead I'm just a spunky chunky monkey.

I met a guy named Moose Milliman once. Anyone remember him? i think he was a 14 min 5k guy.

Take 5 mins to put the Height/Weight stats from elite runners into Excel (take for example the 5k or 10k field from Helsinki...the more the better). IAAF lists usually have that stuff. Plot the results.

For a slightly heavy runner like myself, this was an eye opener!

Do you have the results of that spreadsheet available to see? How big were the heaviest runners?

I'm 160kg, but my brother Jason is 200kg + and has a faster 5k pb than me.

i just met paul mcmullen and that guy is and was beast i think he said when he made the olympic team he was 190 while laban rotich was 97

how much does solinsky weigh and height?

Mccuster from georgetown in the 800. Great speed, but she wasn't built like an 800 runner by any means.

180 lbs isn't that big unless you're 5'2".

I heard that Solinksy is 6'0" and weighs about 165-170. Is that true?

I'm 6'2" and just dropping under 200 lbs and am running 4 milers at around 5:30-5:40 pace. Did a 7 mile run this morning and ran a 1 mile tempo at 5:23. Ran 59:34 for 10 miles at 205 lbs a couple of years back. My college weight peaked at 175 many years ago....I'm 46 yrs old now.

Christian Hesch weighed 249lbs. when he won a 10k last thanksgiving day in 29:03. They gave him his weight in turkeys for the winning prize, and he still has some of them in his freezer.
