Device to restrict breathing while training?

Are you talking about those altitude masks? No, they will not help physiologically.

It's kind of like voluntarily giving your self asthma.

Not really fun and totally useless for aerobic training.

If anything it just pushes your anaerobic threshold closer, so you could use it to mimic hill repeats if you have no hills.

A pear in you mouth and french fries up your nose will do the trick.

Just choke yourself after a good warm up.
