Hey guys! I’m walking on to my college team and need help with how to structure my base phase! I’m currently in 16:40-17:00 5K shape (been training for the 400/800/1600 so mostly been working on anaerobic strength) but I PRd with a 16:07 last season. That being said, coach wants me in low/sub 15 minute 5K shape by the time the season starts or I’ll end up running mostly unattached until I get there. He wants me doing my own thing until mid June. I’ve been ranging between 40-50 mpw for track but ik that won’t cut it if I want to be successful. How have you guys modeled your week to week base phase? Doubles? Long run length? I’m obviously gonna need to get good at the 8K and 10k as well. If you could drop some of your weekly schedules that would be great!
